APC Inaugurates Screening Committees Today
The All Progressives Congress (APC) will inaugurate its screening committees for the House of Representatives, Senate and Governorship Aspirants of the ruling party which will be screened today by 12 pm. The development was disclosed in a statement released by the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Sulaiman Argungu.
According to Argungu, the inauguration of the screening committee would take place at Fraser Suites, Abuja.
He further stated that the screening of governorship, house of representatives and Senate aspirants would commence thereafter.

FG Barred From Retrying Senator Orji Uzor Kalu
The Federal Government has been restricted from retrying the former Governor of Abia State and Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu. Naija News reports that Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja gave the judgement on Wednesday.
The presiding judge asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to stop the planned retrial of Kalu based on the N7.1billion money laundering charge earlier preferred against him.

Inflation Hits 16.47%, Highest Since April 2017
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said that the consumer price index, which measures the rate of increase in the price of goods and services, increased to 16.47 percent in January. According to the NBS, this is the highest point since April 2017.
The CPI/Inflation report released by the bureau shows that food inflation has also crossed the 20 percent mark.
The report read: “The consumer price index, (CPI) which measures inflation increased by 16.
