Elizabeth Lail, Zane Phillips and Nic Ashe are set to star in the off Broadway premiere of “Pretty Perfect Lives,” a look at sexual exploration, internet addiction and the dangers of turning life into content. Performances will begin Aug. 17 at The Flea Theater for a limited four-week engagement that will end on Sept. 8. The show was written by Gage Tarlton, who is best known for his digital play “xXPonyBoyDerekXx.” Lail co-starred in the hit series, “You,” while Phillips appeared in “Fire Island” and Nic Ash co-starred on “Queen Sugar.”
“Pretty Perfect Lives” is set in the near future, as the relationship of a lifestyle influencer couple, Tiffany&Tucker, is put to the ultimate test when they are selected to join the Internet Reality Simulation-Project (IRS-P): a new digital program that allows you to travel through different versions of your life via augmented reality. The couple join the program to deal with the issues arising in their relationship, but what’s actually waiting for them is far more than they bargained for.

“We are so thrilled to bring ‘Pretty Perfect Lives’ to life and to create theater that is accessible for young people, by young people,” said producers Allie Kench and Madison Thompson. “We fell in love with Gage’s script because it was the first time that we felt a piece of theater explored the nuanced relationship between people and social media with both empathy and understanding of what we need as human beings. We hope that those who may be intrigued by, or have complicated relationships with, social media find humor and comfort in this exciting and unique play.”
Actor and producer Jordan Fisher will serve as the play’s executive producer under his Sora Entertainment banner. Co-producers include Carter Kench, Davi Bryan, Happy Recap Productions and Maxwell Whittington-Cooper.
“Pretty Perfect Lives” is being presented in collaboration with the dating app, Feeld. The show also features scenic and costume design by Josh Oberlander, lighting and projection design by Zack Lobel, sound design by Emma Hasselbach, production management by Erica Ammerman, and general management by Wilson Plonk. Tyler Danhaus serves as production stage manager.
