People Are Convinced Donald Trump's Physical Lied About His Weight
By Mark PygasUpdated Nov. 18 2019, 2:37 p.m. ET
On Tuesday, presidential physician Dr. Ronny Jackson released the results of President Donald Trump's physical. He concluded that President Trump was in good physical and mental health for his age, shows no signs of dementia, and does not have dentures.
From Trump's doctor:
Blood pressure: 122/74
Cardiac exam: normal, no murmurs detected
Eyes: corrected vision 20/20
Head, ears, nose, and throat normal. Healthy teeth and gums.
"Above average exercise capacity based on age and sex"
But social media seems to have taken issue with President Donald Trump's recorded weight. At 239 lbs and 6'3", President Donald Trump has a body mass index (BMI) of 29.9 according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's tracker.
The reason Trump’s reported weight is 239lbs is that 240lbs in a 6’3” man would be considered obese by BMI. A very convenient single pound. #TuesdayThoughts
— Rex (@RexRomanTweets) January 16, 2018Move President Trump's weight up 1 lb, and he moves from being considered overweight (BMI of 25-29.9) to obese (BMI of 30 or greater). This has led a lot of social media users to believe that President Trump's weight may not be accurate.
Dr. Ronny Jackson said that Trump was only 239 lbs lmfao pic.twitter.com/NWHt0kYEpQ
— Ana Juneja 🚀💫 (@anajuneja) January 16, 2018"Donald Trump's health is excellent. The best I've ever seen." pic.twitter.com/LMtiEXAmfl
— Reese Nibbled Out (@JMYChi) January 16, 2018So Dr. Ronny Jackson says Trump is 6' 3" & 239lbs
That makes his BMI 29.9
These are the BMI classifications
Normal weight: BMI is 18.5 to 24.9
Overweight: BMI is 25 to 29.9
Obese: BMI is 30 or more
Seems to me like they lied just enough so Trump wouldn't be considered obese.🤔
— Alexander "Stable Genius" Hamilton (@AHamiltonSpirit) January 17, 2018I'm 6'3" and have been losing weight for over year (82lbs lost so far)...there is no way Trump is 239 lbs and no way he has only gained 3 pounds since this 2016 report... (https://t.co/6ALHEu6Gfm). Plus, these increased cholesterol numbers would indeed have any doctor concerned. https://t.co/R1qS6BDdVR
— Paul Leddy (@pleddy) January 17, 2018And of course, people have started the "girther" movement. This is a play on words of Donald Trump's birther accusations, with Trump accusing then President Barack Obama of being born in Kenya instead of the United States, which would have disqualified President Barack Obama from the presidency.
Has anyone coined "girther" for those who belive the president weighs more than his doctor reports?
— Chris Hayes (@chrislhayes) January 16, 2018birther = someone who doesn't believe Obama's birth certificate
girther = someone who doesn't believe Trumps' health report
seems pretty consistent

— Dennis Perkins (@DennisPerkins5) January 16, 2018Mike Trout is 6’2” & 235 pounds
Donald Trump is 6’3” & 239 pounds pic.twitter.com/pgdDfFMCQD
— Dan Clark (@DanClarkSports) January 17, 2018For the record, @realDonaldTrump said he was 74 inches in 2012. Now his doctor says he's 75 inches. And that one inch makes is BMI "overweight" not "obese." I'm a #girther because old men don't GROW an inch! pic.twitter.com/ehNxF9PjPL
— Gersh Kuntzman (@GershKuntzman) January 16, 2018I don't want to be a #girther or anything, but come on.
Trump isn't 6'3".
And he's not 239 lbs.
And if you can admit that these two "facts" are actually lies, it isn't too much of a stretch to believe that Trump is also not in perfect health. https://t.co/UYIW7hviRO
— Holly Figueroa O'Reilly (@AynRandPaulRyan) January 17, 2018Some people have also raised doubt over President Trump's recorded height, comparing him to notable people — mostly famous athletes, whose height and weight stats are well recorded — in order to prove that there's no way Trump is 75 inches (which is taller than he was back in the day, according to a pre-presidential New York State driver's license).
According to Rear Admiral Ronny L. Jackson, Trump is 75 inches tall. That's 6'3".
Obama is listed as 6'1". pic.twitter.com/1SAq7keoBP
— Alamo_on_the_rise (@AlamoOnTheRise) January 17, 2018if Trump's 6'3", then Jeb is about 6'12" and a half pic.twitter.com/zGxyrsL4hU
— Focus on Sanity (@FocusOnSanity) January 16, 2018If @AROD is 6'3" tall, was he wearing 3" platform shoes in this picture? #Girther pic.twitter.com/PiFwxTROQ3
— Like, Enormously Consensual (@Snowhawk04) January 16, 2018Others compared the President's physique with that of President Barack Obama — and, needless to say, the two men are built very, very differently.
Back when " in excellent health" meant something different. #girther pic.twitter.com/PZT6MCNEcX
— ProudVeteran (@LovesDogsMuch) January 17, 2018James Gunn, director of the two Guardians of the Galaxy films, is also offering $100,000 if President Donald Trump will step on a scale to prove his weight.
I will give 100 thousand dollars to Trump's favorite charity if he will step on an accurate scale with an impartial medical professional, okayed by both of us. For real. #Girther #GirtherMovement
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) January 17, 2018Think he'll do it?
